Core circulation breakthrough

Publish: 03 July 2009

Ads24 has taken a positive step in advertising the core circulations (excluding 3rd party bulk and PMIE copies) for its five Sunday papers.

It believes that in reflecting core circulation statistics as shown on Telmar, media buyers can analyse schedule performance based on accurate figures and compare apples with apples. Some newspaper titles rely on third party bulk and PMIE numbers to bolster their circulations, this has the affect of distorting reach as these readers may be irrelevant to specific advertising campaigns.

The five Sunday papers within the Ads24 stable with their core circulations (Jan to Mar '09) are:

City Press 181,816; Ilanga langeSonto 90,158; Rapport 282,260; Sondag 42,528 and Sunday Sun 214,357. Ads24 believes that core circulation figures provide a transparent evaluation, giving media planners the power to apply spend wisely.

In the July issue of The Media magazine the incorrect advertising material was run with incorrect circulation figures for Ilanga langeSonto. Please note the correct core circulation above.

The error is regretted.
